We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Network Administrator to design, build, test, monitor, and implement network systems across our enterprise. This is an on-campus position located in Bellevue, Nebraska. This critical role involves planning, developing, installing, configuring, maintaining, testing, monitoring, and optimizing all local/wide-area and wireless networks, ensuring seamless connectivity for university operations. The Network Administrator will also troubleshoot network performance issues, analyze network traffic, manage network security, and provide capacity planning solutions.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Network Operations & Management: Configure, monitor, and troubleshoot networks to ensure reliable operation and meet business objectives. Maintain network connectivity for all devices (servers, workstations, telephony, etc.). Manage network assets, including inventory, documentation, and technical specifications. Implement change controls and update documentation. Monitor network performance, provide statistics and reports, and communicate effectively with stakeholders. Identify and report security risks, participate in security solutions management, and perform security audits, backups, and recoveries.
  • Network Strategy & Planning: Collaborate with leadership to assess short- and long-term network capacity needs. Create and maintain network documentation (configuration, mapping, processes, security, lifecycle). Develop and implement network administration policies, procedures, and training plans. Establish service level agreements (SLAs) for network services.
  • Network Acquisition & Deployment: Design and deploy LANs, WANs, and wireless networks, including servers, routers, firewalls, and other hardware. Research network products and technologies to improve performance and security. Oversee equipment upgrades and serve as a liaison with vendors.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of hands-on network operations experience, including expertise in Ethernet, LAN, WAN, VLAN, TCP/IP, 802.1x, 802.11, RADIUS, 802.3ad, VRRP, NAT, Rapid Spanning Tree, QoS, SNMP, DNS, DHCP, Routing, and IP subnetting.
  • Industry certifications (CompTIA Network+, Aruba, Ruckus, Cisco, Wireshark) preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of network management and analysis tools (e.g., Brocade Network Advisor, Wireshark, Aruba NetEdit, Aruba Airwave).
  • Proven experience in LAN, WAN, WLAN, and WWAN design and implementation.
  • Experience with IPv6, Software Defined Networking (SDN), and Python for network automation preferred.
  • Experience with network capacity planning, security principles, and best practices.
  • Knowledge of client/server operating systems preferred.
  • Hands-on experience with network hardware and operating systems (Ruckus, SonicWALL, Citrix, Aruba highly desired).
  • Knowledge of network security measures (firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention, VPN, anti-virus/spam, CrowdStrike EPP, SonicWALL preferred).
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage complex projects and work in a fast-paced environment.

 

Working Conditions:

  • On-call availability (up to 7 days per month).
  • Ability to lift and transport moderately heavy objects.
  • Bellevue University – Main Campus in Bellevue, Nebraska.
