Summary: The Women’s Center for Advancement (WCA) Indigo program provides survivors of human trafficking access to low-barrier advocacy, case management services, civil legal consultations, and medical and mental health care. The WCA values collaboration and works closely with community partners to offer robust, person-centered services to survivors of trafficking in the Omaha area. As a Case Manager with the Indigo program, you will be an integral part of this collaborative effort, providing services and support to victims of human trafficking.

 

Case Managers with the Indigo program will provide services and support to victims of human trafficking.  The goal of the case manager is to optimize the functioning and well-being of victim-survivors of human trafficking by providing and coordinating high-quality services. We believe in a client-centered approach, where you will work in partnership with victims of human trafficking to provide relationship-focused, low-barrier services that respond to clients’ needs for safety, housing, basic needs, connections with family and community, mental health, and physical health care. Your intervention will strengthen and develop problem-solving and coping capacities, enhance the client’s ability to participate in their community, respect the client’s values and goals, and link clients to services, resources, and opportunities designed to assist clients in facing challenges that may present during community re-integration and the healing process.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assess and respond to clients’ immediate crisis needs.
  • Meet with clients at the office, via phone, or in-person to provide case management and support. Case management focuses on assisting clients in achieving goals related to self-sufficiency (e.g., helping to address long-term housing instability, helping to improve financial literacy, etc.).
  • Assess clients’ safety and work with them to create a safety plan.
  • Provide comprehensive case management services to victims of human trafficking.
  • Develop support systems to meet client needs by identifying and coordinating various services.
  • Provide education and advocacy to reduce barriers or challenges within employment, housing, mental health, physical health, and other social service systems.
  • Assist clients in achieving goals.
  • Collect, organize, and submit required data to the director promptly.
  • Coordinate referrals with other professionals, organizations, and agencies.
  • Work collaboratively with other professionals.
  • Determine the quality and effectiveness of services provided and, if necessary, develop and implement new processes and procedures.
  • Encourage a team approach by cooperative interaction and communication with colleagues, volunteers, and community agencies.
  • Maintain confidential information concerning the agency, clients, and program organizational plans, policies, and strategies.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed record keeping and documentation.
  • Attend regular staff meetings and trainings.
  • Follow all policies and procedures relative to this position.
  • Perform all duties as assigned by the director.

 

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience providing case management or related supportive services.
  • Prior experience working with individuals, groups, or families who have experienced complex trauma is highly desirable.
  • Ability to respond to complex needs of individuals while recognizing and reducing system barriers.
  • Knowledge of and experience in the field of anti-trafficking, domestic violence, and sexual exploitation/assault.
  • Broad knowledge of community services, resources, and the ability to collaborate with community partners.
  • Ability to establish working alliances with clients.
  • Ability to elicit, build, and support resilience.
  • Ability to set and maintain boundaries with clients, staff, and community partners.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Good working knowledge of computer programs, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet, and database programs.
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment.
  • Regular and predictable attendance is required.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to drive for agency business.
  • Ability to work a varied schedule
  • Maintain confidentiality standards of the agency and per HIPAA standards.
  • Commitment to the mission of the Women’s Center for Advancement.
  • Must be able to pass a background check.

 

Education/Experience: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in social work, counseling, or a related field and six months to one year of social service experience is preferred. Fluency in Spanish is preferred.  WCA also strongly values the personal, lived experience of individuals from all backgrounds.

The employee will be required to sit, stand, walk, and occasionally lift and move up to 10 pounds. In addition, the employee will be required to drive to other locations to conduct agency business.
