We’re reinventing workers compensation insurance. This position will play a key role in that process.

It’s easy to identify and avoid the mistakes the dumb companies in the industry make, the real trick is identifying and avoiding the mistakes the smart companies make. This requires an exceptional individual with outstanding skills for data analysis, pattern recognition, and process redesign. It also requires being fundamentally savvy about what matters and what doesn’t matter; knowing which factors and numbers have an impact on critical business outcomes and which are just bright, shiny distractions.

This includes the tenacity required to perform detailed and thorough work that can be tedious.  The right candidate must possess a strong and persistent work ethic while maintaining a high degree of accuracy and acuity. The job is: observe, hypothesize, redesign, implement, monitor, measure, analyze, and adjust. And then repeat, repeat, and repeat. Ultimately the job also includes putting successful processes into daily operation and performing them.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Identify data relevant to a process or outcome, ensure it is being gathered accurately and consistently, analyze it, and recommend changes in processes to improve efficiency, quality, accuracy, or effectiveness.

  • Implement those changes, monitor the results, and draw conclusions regarding the success of the redesign on an evolutionary basis.

  • Directly observe and evaluate processes and assess opportunities for improvement.

  • Create ad hoc and regularly-produced reports for top management.

  • Work closely with individuals from many disciplines in the company.

  • Keenly understand the needs and motives of our customers.

  • Rapidly gain a high level of technical and professional knowledge in our field.

  • Gather and analyze data from outside the company and evaluate its meaning for our processes and objectives.

  • Discern which industry-standard practices are flawed or fruitful.

Qualifications:

  • The desired candidate will have a degree in finance, statistics, mathematics, physics, philosophy, or computer programming. Any degree that demonstrates advanced problem solving and logic.

  • Process design or auditing experience a plus.

  • Ability to rapidly master database languages.

  • Advanced skill with Microsoft Excel. Skill with Access desirable.

  • Strongly collaborative, ego-free work style. A lone wolf won’t succeed. You need to fit into a culture in which people genuinely enjoy working together.

  • Ability to rapidly master financial and statistical modeling.

  • Highest standards of accuracy and precision; highly organized.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Rock-solid honesty, openness, and ethical values.
