As a Payroll Assistant, you will be reporting to the Manager of Human Resources and will provide support for the administrative needs of the HR department.  The Payroll Assistant will exercise professionalism and discretion, maintain confidentiality, and be able to multi-task with attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.

Primary Areas of Responsibility:

  • Answer frequently asked questions from employees related to payroll, company policies, benefits, resources, hiring processes, procedures, etc.
  • Process the semi-monthly payroll.
  • Ensure all employee records are maintained and updated with new hire information or changes in employment status.
  • Maintain the integrity and confidentality of human resource files and records.
  • Perform periodic audits of HR files and records to ensure that all required documents are collected and filed appropriately.
  • Complete verifications of employment and assist with unemployment claims.
  • Assist with implementation of new programs.
  • Coodinate job postings.
  • Review applications and coordinate with hiring manager on viable candidates.  This will include being the primary point of contact for the applicants.
  • Track applicants from time of application to resolution.  This will include sending rejection emails.
  • General support for the HR team and other tasks/projects as assigned.

Essential Skills & Qualifications:

  • Requires exception interpersonal, organizational, written and verbal communication, along with computer, time management, problem-solving, and analytical skills
  • Exhibit the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations and data with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy.
  • Experience with software programs, including Microsoft Office Suite
  • High School diploma

Preferred Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience with HR software programs
  • Working knowledge of general HR practices and processes
  • Experience with payroll processing
  • Associate's degree in related field
