Operating System Specialist

Position Overview 

We are seeking an Operating System Specialist to manage, maintain, and optimize our operating systems, with a strong focus on integrating multiple platforms into a unified system—especially within the Agvance Operating System. This role plays a key part in ensuring system efficiency, security, and support for our growing business. 

Key Responsibilities 

System Management & Integration 

• Blend multiple operating systems into a single book of record, with emphasis on Agvance Operating System. 

• Monitor system performance and optimize configurations for speed and efficiency. 

• Implement and manage system updates, patches, and upgrades. 

Troubleshooting & User Support 

• Diagnose and resolve OS-related hardware and software issues. 

• Provide technical support to employees, addressing system inquiries and troubleshooting issues. 

• Document technical resolutions for future reference and team knowledge sharing. 

Security & Compliance 

• Implement security measures to protect data and system integrity. 

• Monitor for vulnerabilities and ensure best practices in system security. 

• Ensure compliance with organizational policies and regulatory standards. 

Performance Monitoring & Reporting 

• Utilize system performance monitoring tools to identify bottlenecks. 

• Generate reports and recommend improvements for enhanced system reliability. 

Collaboration & Documentation 

• Work closely with IT, operations, and leadership teams to support applications and network operations. 

• Maintain detailed documentation on system configurations, protocols, and procedures. 

• Provide training and resources to improve system usage and adoption. 

Qualifications 

• Proven experience as an Operating System Specialist or similar role. 

• Strong knowledge of Windows, Linux, SQL, and UNIX operating systems. 

• Experience with Agvance or other agribusiness-related systems preferred. 

• Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) is a plus. 

• Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work in a team environment. 

• Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users. 

Preferred Skills & Certifications 

• Certifications such as CompTIA Linux+, Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Administrator, or equivalent. 

• Experience with cloud-based operating systems and services. 

• Knowledge of agriculture-related technology and software is a plus. 

Work Environment 

• Primarily office-based, with travel to offsite locations on occasion.  

• Occasional after-hours support may be required for critical system updates or emergencies.
