We are seeking aCommercialInsurance Officerwho will lead the sales efforts for the Business Development Unit through individual sales and joint sales calls with Retail Commercial Lending Officers. Serve as the primary agent for the large, complex customer segment (generally greater than 10,000 acres, or generally in excess of $5.0 million gross farm income). Incumbents are responsible for the sales, servicing, and renewal of these customers and will have a defined portfolio to service and increase the net acre growth of that portfolio. Incumbents are accountable for aggressive new sales growth and retention of the portfolio. Enter insurance data in multiple processing software systems. Provide consistent high quality service that is timely, thorough, and responsive to meet and exceed customer expectations. Collaborate with Commercial and Corporate Lending teams to reach sales goals.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Sales
- Serve as primary agent for the servicing of crop insurance policies >10,000 acres which includes gathering acreage reports and production histories. In addition, provide servicing to Hail Policies and Supplemental Insurance Products. Incumbent will have aggressive sales production goals established in conjunction with assigned Business Development Unit and the Regional Vice President of Related Services for assigned marketing areas. Responsible for sales production of Multi-Peril (MP), Crop Hail and Supplemental insurance products to customer and non-customer prospects.
- Develop personal marketing plan and update annually around customer needs and risk tolerance.
- Highly effective in joint call selling, seeking all opportunities to cross sell all products and services to customers. Assist region with marketing plan to achieve region business and product depth goals.
- Represent the Associations at industry events and other ag related events in the business development area. Serve as subject matter expert and make sales presentations at insurance sales seminars as needed. Provide product and sales expertise to region staff, prospects and customers. Responsible for providing referrals to other members of the Regional and Associations sales teams.
- Within assigned segment, design innovative customer packages to meet customer and prospect needs. Using a holistic selling approach present creative solutions and multiple options based on customers needs.
- Develop proposals for one-on-one sales calls with customers or prospects, utilizing financial information gathered independently and from interaction with Financial Services Officers, Retail Commercial Lenders and Agribusiness Capital Officers in preparation of prospect sales calls.
- Utilize the Associations sales tools, techniques and technology (i.e. (Optimum, SalesForce, etc.) to effectively complete, track and document sales and customer activities.
- Assist with organizing and coordinating insurance programs within assigned marketing areas.
Service and Processing
- Process insurance forms from multiple insurance vendors for MPCI, Crop Hail and Supplemental products including analyzing and entering applications online. Leverage customers precision farming data to gather acreage reporting and production reporting information. Enter acreage reports utilizing insurance company software according to underwriting requirements and current processes and procedures.
- Serve as point of contact for policy changes and enter information online with AIP system(s).
- Collect acreage information and process directly online with AIP system(s).
- Report, track and review claims for accuracy within assigned portfolio.
- Assist customers with policy-related questions/concerns.

Insurance Vendor Relationships
- Develop and maintain a working relationship with insurance vendor representatives to improve sales and service to regional offices and customers. Make business placement decisions based upon AIP products and offerings.
- Verify electronic insurance documents reflect current information and through use of insurance website reports and other resources, ensure complete and accurate reporting to meet deadlines.
- Coordinate with Insurance Support Specialists and insurance company personnel regarding application of complex insurance rules for specific customer insurance policy situations.
Other
- Provide sales support to Retail Commercial Lenders, Agribusiness Capital Lenders, Financial Officers and sales and servicing support to other Insurance Officers in the region or Business Development Unit.
- Utilize multiple insurance company and government websites to obtain general information and to monitor progress regarding specific policies. Participate in collaborative decision-making as well as make independent decision regarding implementation of insurance rules and development of internal processes.
- Assist with identifying updates and request changes to Insurance SharePoint processes, forms and resources.
- 20-50 customers, 25% <2,500 acres, 75%>2,500 acres.
- Effectively perform functions of the job with limited leader guidance and assistance. Demonstrates the highest level of influence and negotiation skills in responsibilities such as policy structuring, coverage/option selection and supplemental products. Possesses exemplary insurance policy analysis skills with the ability to appropriately structure insurance packages and proposals (presenting creative solutions and multiple options based on customers needs.) Has achieved a fully developed and proven holistic selling approach to deepen customer relationships. Is a sought out agricultural industry expert with in- depth knowledge of multiple agricultural industries. For the benefit of the Associations, participates in workgroups and special projects. Consistently demonstrates results in the top 10% of Insurance Services Officers.

Education Requirements
Bachelor's Degree Preferred inAgriculture, Finance, or Business
Years of Experience
10 + years of experience in closely related ag field
Certification and Technical Requirements
- Ability to use Insurance Company websites, Government websites, Insurance Company quoting and processing software in addition to internal software such as SharePoint, AgentPro, and digital tools.
- Proficient in Windows environment using Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and Internet Explorer.
- Proficient in use of Associations insurance sales tools and any third-party sales tools.
- Proven technology skills, including ability to be proficient in multiple AIP systems and various insurance tools
