Position Highlights:

Nebraska Medicine is now taking applications for a talented individual to join us as a Nebraska Medicine Pharmacy is recruiting 2 Part-Time Pharmacy Technician for Heartland Hematology Infusion Center Team at the Nebraska Medicine at our Kearney, NE location.

• The Heartland infusion center and clinic are growing rapidly as NM is looking to expand care opportunities to more patients.

• Planned completion of the new building is December 2024.

• The infusion center pharmacy and specialty pharmacy will be located in the same work area in the new building.

• Until the new building is open, the focus will be on dispensing intravenous medications - developing skills in sterile compounding.

• In the new building, the technician role will incorporate specialty activities to increase staff satisfaction and ensure flexibility

Shift:

• Part Time and benefits eligible (0.5FTE / 20 hours per week)

• First shift only, No weekends/evenings

Pharmacy Technician - Heartland Hematology Infusion Center:

Perform sterile compounding according to policy and regulations including USP 797 and USP 800. Maintain competency in use of all equipment and programs related to performing sterile compounding. Participate in medication management for pharmacy compounding, including medication and supply ordering, receiving, and maintenance. Troubleshoot equipment, hardware, and software issues relating to compounding. Participate in completing and documenting all cleaning and monitoring activities identified for areas related to sterile compounding. Practice critical and focused thinking and perform calculations as needed to validate activities. Work within a team to triage and respond to all compounding needs in a timely manner, following supervisor shift pharmacists' oversight. Maintain ongoing didactic and practical training as related to sterile compounding.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Minimum of 18 years of age required.

• Minimum of three months tenure in Nebraska Medicine inpatient pharmacy depart or demonstrated experience in sterile compounding required.

• High school education or equivalent required.

• Registered as a pharmacy technician with the State of Nebraska Board of Pharmacy required.

• Pharmacy Technician Certification within 12 months of licensed date required.

• Internal Aseptic Technique training completed within two weeks of hire required.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Hazardous medication and/or total parenteral nutrition (TPN) compounding experience preferred.
