Position Summary
As part of the BHECN (Behavioral Health Education Center of Nebraska) leadership team, the Associate Director of Network Initiatives will lead strategic activities to expand and strengthen Nebraska’s behavioral health workforce through three primary areas: building a statewide provider network, enhancing the impact of BHECN’s regional sites, and creating a cohesive ecosystem for behavioral health workforce collaboration. This role is pivotal in addressing the state’s behavioral health workforce shortage and ensuring representation and engagement from statewide stakeholders.?

The Associate Director of Network Initiatives must possess a deep understanding of behavioral health systems and workforce development strategies, particularly within a rural and regionally diverse context. This includes knowledge of behavioral health provider roles, licensure requirements, and educational pathways relevant to Nebraska. The role requires advanced skills in stakeholder engagement, coalition-building, and cross-sector collaboration to successfully unify efforts across academic, clinical, governmental, and community organizations. Candidates should demonstrate strong project management and organizational skills and have the ability to manage complex initiatives across multiple regions. A high level of cultural competence and an understanding of health equity principles are essential for engaging diverse areas of the state. The ability to interpret workforce data and apply findings to strategy development is also critical, along with comfort navigating state and federal funding structures that support behavioral health initiatives.
